Michael Raymond Engledow, 57, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at his home. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, at the Stewart Baxter Funeral and Memorial Services in Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 11 a.m. until service-time on Saturday. Pastor Kyle French will be officiating. Military honors will be provided at the funeral home immediately following the funeral. Stewart Baxter Funeral and Memorial Services of Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.

Michael is survived by his wife, Alison; daughter, Jaquelynne; mother, Lila Berry (Donnellan) of Iowa City; father, Kenneth (Carolyn) Engledow of Cedar Rapids; paternal grandmother, Evelyn Edaburn Engledow Mather of Vinton; three brothers, Mark Engledow of Center Point, Micky (Melissa) Engledow of Vinton; Jeffrey Berry of Vinton; step-brother, Kris Hendrix, Texas; step-sister, Sharma Hendrix of Cedar Rapids; mother-in-law, Penny Heintz of North English; father-in-law, Ron Melley of Garrison; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Michael Raymond was born July 12, 1965, in Vinton, Iowa. He grew up and attended schools in both Iowa and Louisiana. Michael graduated from Leesburg High School in Louisiana in 1984. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army. Michael served in the Army for a total of eight years. Michael was united in marriage to Alison Melley on Dec. 13, 2014, in Cedar Rapids. The couple made their home in Cedar Rapids, where they were blessed with a daughter. Michael worked as a truck driver nearly his entire life. First, he drove as grain hauler, then worked his way up to over the road. Mike was not one to be kept inside. He loved to fish, camp, drag racing and sprint car racing. Michael especially loved the time he was able to spend with his daughter, Jaquelynne.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Lucille Donnellan, Raymond Engledow; and an uncle, Phil Donnellan.

A memorial fund has been established in Michael’s name and may be directed to the family.
