Michael H. “Pat” Carpenter

Michael H. “Pat” Carpenter, 83, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully in his home having had important conversations with each and every person he loved, on October 15, 2021 following a period of declining health.

Born in New Philadelphia on February 24, 1938, he was the son of the late Ernest Edward and Clara Marie (Pearl) Carpenter.

On November 16, 1968, he married the former Victoria Guida, who was the love of his life. They were fortunate to celebrate 50 years of marriage prior to her passing on April 23, 2019. Together, they were blessed with three daughters and eight grandchildren whom he cherished.

Pat attended New Philadelphia High School, and went on to work at the former Reeves Steel and Empire Detroit Steel, where he retired after 40 years of service. His memberships included Sacred Heart Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the B.P.O.E. Lodge. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan but loved watching all sports. Most importantly, he was a devoted grandfather sharing his ornery demeanor and humor with them. His family will forever cherish their breakfasts at Dee’s Restaurant with Pat where he ate numerous times a week.

Pat will be deeply missed by his daughters, Justine (Mike) Fredericks and Vicky (Dave Adams) Carpenter, both of New Philadelphia, and Erica (Doug) Jones of Dennison; his grandchildren, Alex (Heather) White, Gabrielle, Lauren, Anthony and Luke Fredericks, Ayden and Adalyn Jones, and Faith (Adam Colaner) Nemeth; his great-grandchildren, Gianna and Emma White, and Lily and Dante Colaner; his brother, Paul (Jean) Carpenter of Texas; his sister and brother-in-law, Rosemarie Mills of Tuscarawas and Jim (JoAnn) Guida of New Philadelphia; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Pat was preceded in passing by his sister, June Caswell.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m., with a Christian Wake Service beginning at 7 pm. Father Jeff Coning will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church on Thursday, October 21 at 1:30 p.m. in Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia. A meal will be served immediately after mass in the church parish hall.

Memorial contributions in Pat’s memory may be directed to Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School, 777 3rd St NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
