Max William Link
Cedar Rapids
Max William Link, 62, of Cedar Rapids, entered into God’s kingdom on July 23, 2023 after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma.
Max was born August 28, 1960, in Cedar Rapids to Victor and Iona (Ohlhauser) Link. He graduated Kennedy High School in 1979. Max went on to perform many jobs, working as a machinist, welder, and logistics manager and then owning a small sawmill business with his wife.
Max is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Jody, as well as his son, Timothy (Kerry) Link and daughter, Jennifer (Russell) Bauer; granddaughters, Addison, Liliauna, and Sophie; and sisters, Diana (Gary) Phelps, Linda (Steve) Fisher, and Pamela Rigel.
He was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Iona; and brother-in-law Carl Rigel.
Max was an avid outdoorsman who was known for his love of hunting and fishing. He loved the solitude of the lake and woods and it is there that he felt closest to God. His enthusiasm was contagious; his family will always cherish the memories of him teaching them to fish, hunt, and enjoy God’s creation.
Never one to sit still, he enjoyed woodworking, rebuilding tractors and repairing pocket watches. In more recent years Max was able to enjoy operating his sawmill and learning to fly a small sport airplane.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, July 27th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home, 3100 F Ave NW.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 28th at 10 a.m. at Church of the King, 1750 F Ave. NW, with burial immediately following at Czech National Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at Church of the King.
Memorial donations may be directed to the family for Glioblastoma research.
