Mary Ann Kuhn

Mary Ann Kuhn, 82, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. Her husband of 63 years, four children, and many of her grandchildren traveled on short notice from all over the country to stand vigil with her until she passed.

Mary Ann will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Roy; sister Peggy Fragapane (late husband Mike) and sister-in-law Pat LeVere (late husband Jerry, Mary Ann’s brother); children Michael, Laura McGowan (Joe), Jim (late wife Julie), Dennis (Tara); grandchildren Cypress, Heron (Liz), Patrick (Lucy), Rose (Adam Boles), Elizabeth, Kevin, Justin, and Jared; great grandchildren Marielle and Laura-Maeve. Also survived by many wonderful brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was born in Cleveland, OH, to Harry & Helen LeVere as the 2nd of 3 children. She married Roy at the age of 19 and was single-minded about being the best wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother possible, and undoubtedly succeeded on all counts.

Supporting her husband’s career, she moved their family to 15 different homes in 6 states, decorating each beautifully while raising her family through grade school, high school, and college. She earned a degree in Psychology from Notre Dame College at the age of 51. Mary Ann was an officer of the family business for many years before they retired to North Carolina.

Mary Ann was known for her kindness, generosity, and compassion; selfless devotion to others was her first priority. She had a strong focus on nutrition and health throughout her life and was praised for her gourmet cooking. She was a self-taught cake artist who took delight in surprising her grandchildren with a masterpiece on each birthday. Mary Ann and Roy enjoyed playing cards and became Life Masters in Bridge. They loved to travel and visited some of the most beautiful places on earth.

Devout Catholics, Mary Ann and Roy were members of Immaculate Conception parish in Hendersonville, NC. She could often be found reciting the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, which her family prayed over her before her death.

She will be missed dearly by family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one of her favorite charities, Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Rd. Flat Rock, NC 28731.  A funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hendersonville, NC on June 25th at 11:30 AM.
