Marvin P. “Bud” Vandersee, 94, of Cedar Rapids passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Keystone Cedars in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Brosh Chapel and the Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling STt. SW, Cedar Rapids. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Brosh Chapel. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery.
Bud was born Oct. 1, 1928, in Sumner, Iowa, the son of Kurt and Dorothy Vandersee. He grew up in northern Iowa. He married Dixie Randall on Dec. 27, 1965, in Rock Island, Ill. Together they owned and operated Vandersee Backhoe Service and Trucking for many years in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed fishing, camping, NASCAR and having a cool one with his friends and family. He will always be remembered as willing to help others and quick with a joke.
Bud is survived by his children, Judy (Denny) Suchan, Robert (Pat) Vandersee, Vickie Cringan, Kevin (Chris) Vandersee, Mike Vandersee, Terry Vandersee, Randy Vandersee, Lisa (Joe) Dumond, and Lori (Brad) Kolarik; 26 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren;, three brothers, one sister and many nieces and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by wife Dixie, son Lyle, daughter Linda, stepson Terry Randall, grandson Dustin, brothers Lavern and Don and his parents.
Memorials may be directed to St. Croix Hospice.
