Martha Elizabeth Phillips

Martha “Marge” Elizabeth Phillips, 96, of Mansfield, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 14, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 3, 1924, in Carter County, Kentucky, one of twelve children of the late William M. and Virgie H. (Dean) Cole.

Marge loved going to church and was a faithful member of New Beginnings Free Will Baptist Church. She loved gardening, canning, sewing and especially making beautiful quilts which she gifted to many people.

She is survived by three children, Glenn (Wilma) Phillips of Mansfield, Talmadge (Phyllis) Gee of Roundup, MT, and Debra (Reed) Obermiller of Crestline; ten grandchildren, Aundrea Cormier, Sonny Gee, Anita West, Shelli Craft, Amy Stump, Brian Phillips, Jeff Shepherd, Bill Shepherd, Beth Oney and Kimberly Risner; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, Wade Cole of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank M. Phillips; daugter, Mildred Shepherd; granddaughter, Cindy Morris; and ten brothers and sisters, Arthur Cole, Anna Conn, Willard Cole, Troy Cole, Edna Carroll, Magdeline Blevins, Clayton Cole, Eugene Cole, Juanita Cole and Chester Cole.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 2021, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. The funeral service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in New Beginnings Free Will Baptist Church, 2375 Stiving Rd., Mansfield, with Rev. Glenn M. Phillips and Pastor Brian Phillips officiating. She will be laid to rest in Franklin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Beginnings Free Will Baptist Church, Southern Care Hospice, or the Franklin Township Fire Department.
