Marshall “Buck” Keith, 84, of Solon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, surrounded by his family. Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Solon United Methodist Church by Pastor Ken Ferguson. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, lower level, located at 100 South Cedar St., Solon.

Marshall Edward was born Oct. 22, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Dean and Margaret (Brickner) Keith. He graduated from Solon High School in 1957 and in 1956 he threw the first scoring touchdown pass to his best friend Terry. He proudly served two years in the U.S. Army National Guard. Following that he pursued his passion for horses and rodeo in saddleback, bareback and won multiple state titles bull riding. Marshall was united in marriage to Connie Perkins on Oct. 7, 1961, in West Branch, at the United Methodist Church. He worked as a union mason for 25 years. Then with the help of his family went on to own and operate Tri-States Mill and Elevator in Stanwood. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and the great outdoors.

Following his retirement, he was very involved in his church and community volunteer work. He was involved in outdoor voluntary work at Lake McBride State Park, the Celebration Farms and Wilson’s Apple Orchard.

Marshall is survived by his wife, Connie; children, Kirk (Nancy) of Onslow, Kelley (Mike) McLaughlin of Coralville and Lance “Punch” of Solon; grandchildren, Adam (Amy) Keith, Molly (Jacob) Werner, Matthew McLaughlin, Ryan McLaughlin, Haley McLaughlin, Marshall “Little Buck” (Ashley) Keith, Jarod Keith and Grace Keith; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Bonnie Washburn, Jim (Elaine) Keith, Robert (Pam) Keith and Kathy (Ellis) Smith; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Bill Warne, Jim Washburn and Bob Perkins.

Memorials may be directed to the Solon Fire Department and St. Croix Hospice on his name.
