Marilyn Doris Turnquist Molen was born Feb. 25, 1937, in Vermillion, S.D., and died June 2, 2023, in Winter Park, Fla.

Marilyn lived in Iowa City for many years, where she earned a Ph.D at the University of Iowa and then served as assistant dean at the U of I College of Nursing. She then became dean at Metropolitan State’s College of Nursing (Minneapolis). She was married to C. Theodore (Ted) Molen for over 50 years, and the couple had two children, Kristin and Stephen.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband; son, Stephen Molen; daughter-in-law, Lorie Molen, and son-in-law, Grant Harbin. She is survived by her sisters, Arlynne Turnquist and Carolyn Linn; her daughter, Kristin Harbin; six grandchildren who lovingly called her “Mormor,” and much extended family.

The family plans a private memorial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Augustana College (Rock Island, Ill.) or the University of Iowa College of Nursing.
