Marie Galloway Francis
MURFREESBORO, NC – Marie Galloway Francis, age 86, of Pinetops Road, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the ECU Health Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC
Mrs. Francis was born on February 2, 1936 to Cliff and Edna Tillery Galloway in Northampton County, NC. Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a devoted member of Meherrin Baptist Church where she spent many years teaching children’s Sunday school class. She cherished her family especially her grandchildren. Marie enjoyed quilting and cooking making many quilts over the years for her family and always willing to cook up a meal for her grandchildren. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter C. Francis; a son, Clark Francis, sisters, Ellen Vann and Estelle Vann, and brother, Leon Galloway.
Marie is survived by two sons, W. Keith Francis and wife Elizabeth of Sedley, VA, and Brian Francis wife Janet of Murfreesboro; three grandsons, Walt Francis, Brandon Francis and wife Lauren, Justin Francis and wife Kelly; granddaughter, Sarah Francis; great-grandson, Mason Clark Francis; great-granddaughter, Addison Blair Francis; and sister, Frances Edwards of Ahoskie.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 5, 2022, from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Memorial Chapel-Murfreesboro, Murfreesboro, NC, and other times at the home of Brian and Janet Francis.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Meherrin Baptist Church Cemetery, Murfreesboro, NC, with Rev. Travis Turner officiating.
