Maria Carrera

Maria Carrera, age 73 of Elgin, IL formerly of Plano, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL. She was born on February 28, 1948 in Durango, Mexico the daughter of Carlos and Belem (Pereda) Mendoza.

Maria was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Plano, IL. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Maria is survived by her mother, Belem Pereda Mendoza of Chicago, IL; her children, Jesus A. (Maria) Carrera of Yorkville, IL, Eloy (Kathryn) Carrera Sr., of Sandwich, IL and Mirella (Efrain) Hernandez of Elgin, IL; her grandchildren, Jovanni Carrera, Eloy Carrera Jr., Christian Carrera, Devin Carrera, Isabella Carrera, Noel Hernandez, Liam Hernandez and Oliver Carrera; her five brothers, one sister; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Carlos Mendoza.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1001 North Center Avenue in Plano, IL with Father Andy Davy, officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano, IL.

Friends may visit from 4:00 until 8:00 pm on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 West South Street, Plano, IL.
