Margaret Ann Riley Puschel
Margaret Ann Riley Puschel, age 100, of Springfield, IL peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. Born January 5, 1923 in Macon, IL. Cherished wife of her late husband, Gene A. Puschel whom she married in 1949. Her daughter, Joyce (Les) Reitman also preceded her in death, as well as her parents, John and Agnes (Tomlinson) Riley and all of her siblings: Frances (Raymond) Brosemer, Walter Riley, Helen (John) Egizii, David (Florence) Riley, Eloise (Patrick) Martin and John Riley as an infant in 1918.
She is survived by her three other children, Peggy (Thomas) Luthy of Naperville, IL, Gene W. Puschel of Springfield, IL and William (Rachel) Puschel of Chesterfield, MO. Loving grandmother of Andrew (Laura) Reitman, Emily (John Kinney) Reitman, Christopher (Erika) Luthy, Rachael (Josef) Magpantay, Jessica Luthy, William G. Puschel, Katherine (Justin Perez) Puschel, William P. Puschel, Anna Puschel. Great-Grandmother of John Everett Magpantay, Margaret Grace Magpantay and Lucille Anne Magpantay. Fond Aunt of many wonderful nieces and nephews.
A graduate of St. John’s School of Nursing in 1944 as an R.N. and Lincoln Land Community College in 1979 with an Associate Degree. She was a charter member of Christ the King Parish and enjoyed traveling and membership in the Jerome Womens’ Home Extension. She was a resident of Woodside Township and Jerome since 1950. She was an avid user and participant in Facebook from its beginning. She was also a dedicated newspaper reader and was very interested in politics, current events, the news and the weather throughout her life.
Visitation: 10:30 – 11:30 am, Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Christ the King Church.
Funeral Mass: 11:30 am, Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Christ the King Church with Reverend Christopher House officiating.
Committal Service: 10:00 am, Monday, May 1, 2023 at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in her memory.
