Lucille Sandy

Of Fontana

Lucille Sandy was born November 21, 1933 in Walworth to William and Helen (Kreuger) Long.  She passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020 at her home in Fontana.

Lucille was a leader and fixture in her community for over 60 years. During her life, Lucille worked as everything from mail carrier to hostess to business owner, working even up through this past summer as a co-owner of All For Ewe. But being busy with work was never enough for her. Lucille volunteered at Fontana Public School for many years, including serving as President of the Fontana school board. Lucille was also a devoted member of the Fontana Community Church, serving as Sunday school teacher, moderator, board member, youth group leader, organizer of the Fall Bazaar and holiday pageants, and, most famously, as FCC’s choir director for over fifty years. But Lucy will always be best known to Fontana as the co-owner and namesake of Lucy’s Coffee Shop – and for her donuts.

Lucille is survived by her children Vicki Drake, Kim Dabertin, Elizabeth (Mark) Mlekush, Jim (Theresa) Sandy, and Larry (Sue Jensen) Sandy; grandchildren Robert (Jenelle) Sandy, Alexander Dabertin, and Rachel Mlekush; great grandchildren Lyla and James Sandy.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; son-in-law John Hodge; sister Thelma Davis; and brothers William and Delbert Long.

Services and internment were private.
