Lloyd Keith Wood or “Keith”, as he preferred to be called, was born in rural Mechanicsville, IA., to Lloyd Elmer and L. Marie (Rife) Wood, on Saturday, May 2, 1936.

Keith married Carolyn Anne Reeve on October 9, 1960 at the First United Methodist Church in Tipton and remained happily married to Carolyn throughout the course of his life. They lived a love story that spanned over six decades.

He graduated from Tipton High School with the Class of 1954 and initially farmed with his father. Keith subsequently operated the family farm in Tipton, raising corn and beans, also Holstein calves, pigs, and cows. In addition to operating the family farm in Tipton, Keith co-owned and operated Wood’s Truck Equipment with his brother Jerry Wood from 1976 until the shop closed in 1983. Keith also worked as the Cemetery Sexton for the Tipton Masonic Cemetery, for over 30 years until his retirement in 2012.

Keith served his country in the US Army Reserves from 1958 to 1964, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tipton.

Keith truly enjoyed people and was an excellent listener in many conversations with both family and friends. He utilized his quick, dry sense of humor in those conversations, and dispensed common sense advice to those who frequently sought his counsel. He regularly attended his daughter’s and grandchildren’s school and sporting events even when attendance required travel or enduring adverse weather conditions.

Keith was an avid sports fan and rarely missed watching a University of Iowa Hawkeye game. He preferred to quietly observe instead of talking about himself, and regardless of what his personal circumstance might have been at the time, when asked, he would always respond that he was “okay”.

Keith is survived by his wife, Carolyn Wood of Tipton, IA; daughters, Teresa (Joseph) Horak of Cedar Falls, IA and Nancy Wood of North Liberty, IA; grandchildren, Joshua (Mickie) Evans, Ethan (Stephany) Wood, Elijah (Ana) Evans, Hannah (Corey) Joens, Joseph (Becca) Horak, Cassandra (Ryan Reinier) Horak, Jennifer (John) Miller, and Nicole (Christopher) Paul; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Beverly Yerington and Linda Boyer; brother Jerry Wood and infant brother, Gary Wood.
