Leland Fred Parizek, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb./ 20, 2023, at Brosh Chapel. Burial will be in Czech National Cemetery.
Leland was born July 6, 1937, in Elberon, the son of Fred and Lucille (Konicek) Parizek. He graduated from Keystone High School, Class of 1955. In his early years, he was a hired hand for local farmers until serving in the United States Army from 1959-1962. Leland was united in marriage to Beverly Becker on May 18, 1965, at Giard Methodist Church, near McGregor. He worked at Kaloupek Oil Company, FMC Linkbelt, TJ Construction, Goss, and later retired from TJ Construction. Leland enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, playing cards, traveling, and most of all spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Leland is survived by his wife Beverly; his children Myron (Tina) Parizek and Pam (Jeff) Kregel; five grandchildren, Keegan (Natalie) Parizek, Devon (Addison) Kregel, Konner (Lauren) Parizek, Katie Parizek and Mitch Kregel; one great-grandson, Logan Kregel and baby Parizek on the way; his siblings Lillian Musel and Vernon (Wilma) Parizek; as well as his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings in infancy, Margaret and Stanley; and two sisters, Berniece (Herbert) and Ethel (Stanley).
Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or to Asbury United Methodist Church.
