Kevan Lee Truett

Kevan Lee Truett, age 67, of New Philadelphia died Wednesday, May 26, 2021, in Union Hospital at Dover following a brief illness.

Born on May 19, 1954, in Mercy Medical Center at Canton Kevan was a son of Dortha Hendersen Truett-Vogt of California and the late Jerre Truett.

Kevan was a graduate of Jackson High School and spent many years as an over the road truck driver prior to his retirement.

He enjoyed playing Bass Guitar and played in several Christian, Bluegrass and Jazz bands throughout the years. He was a very athletic individual who naturally picked up on any sport he played and rarely turned down the opportunity to golf. Among Kevan’s other passions in life, he greatly enjoyed gardening, being in nature, watching movies with his family and had a knack for finding Indie movies which provoked deep thought. Kevan was also very spiritual. He had a deep faith in the Lord and often studied his Bible.

In addition to his mother, Kevan is survived by his wife, the former Cheryle Rentz whom he married on April 12, 2013; his daughters, Jennifer Roneker of Uniontown, Jessi (Brandon) Butchko of Canton, Shannon (Aaron Andrach) Truett of Florida; his step-sons, Jacob Showalter of Navarre and Sean Showalter of New Philadelphia and seven grandchildren, Clayton, Lily, John, Owen, Parker, Kaiden and Colten.

Completing the family are two sisters, Linda Pappas of Canton and Kelly Truett of California; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Truett of North Canton and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Kevan was preceded in death by his brother, Jerre “Brad” Truett and his step-father, Jack Vogt.

In keeping with Kevan’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be planned for a later date. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia has handled arrangements.
