Kenneth “Ken” L. Marker

Kenneth “Ken” L. Marker, 78, of Springfield, died at 11:06 am, Monday, March 6, 2023 at his home. He was born June 29, 1944 in Springfield, to Arthur S. and Margaret L. Hamilton Marker. He married Maureen Sullivan on October 16, 1965 and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Kristine (Steve) Williams of Springfield; two sons, David (Stacey) Marker of Springfield and Timothy (Debi) Marker of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Todd Williams, Erica (Matt) Wion, Lindsay Phillips (Ryan Dorsey), Andrew (Emma) Phillips, Blaire (Luke) Stone, Patrick Marker and Abigail Andrews; eleven great grandchildren; one sister Kathleen (William) Stieren of Las Vegas, NV and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brian Patrick Marker on February 12, 1970 and half-sister, Dolores Marker.

Kenneth was of the Catholic Faith. He was a graduate of Griffin High School, attended Springfield College and received his associate degree from Lincoln Land Community College. He retired from the Secretary of State’s Office as Administrator of the Micrographics Division for more than thirty-five years.

Ken was a US Air Force Veteran serving from 1963-1967 and was active with the Air Guard for three years.

He loved to travel and had a vast knowledge of airplanes.

Visitation: 5pm – 7pm, Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Friday, March 10, 2023 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Reverend Richard Chiola officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted.
