Kenneth G. Haas, 79, passed away at the Meth-Wick Community on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, First Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 5 p.m., and also at St. Jude’s Catholic Church on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, from 9 a.m. until mass at 10 a.m. with Father Nick March presiding. Interment to follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Memorial Lawn.

Ken was born on March 5, 1943, in Plain, Wis. He was the son of the late Ludwig and Esther (Ruhland) Haas. On April 15, 1967, Ken married the love of his life, Gerry Gongwer, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Ken’s first job was with Collins Radio where he helped develop the signal processor on the lunar module on Apollo 13. He loved reading, camping with his family, and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers.

Those left to cherish Ken’s memory are his wife, Gerry of Cedar Rapids; his children, Jeff (Cathy) Haas of Eau Claire, Wis., Tim (Gen) Haas of Jefferson City, Mo., Mark (Betsy) Haas, of Wentzville, Mo., Cindy (Scott) Perry of Winterset, Iowa, and Christy (Keith) Koot, of Gurnee, Ill.; his grandchildren, Brad, Cory, Ben, Carter, Drew, Ileana, Ethan, Gavyn, Ainslee, Ashlyn, Lauren and Ava; his brothers, Ralph (Maxine) Haas of Spring Green, Wis., and Dick Haas of Rochester, Minn.; his brothers-in-law, Jim (Carol) Gongwer of Marion, Iowa, Roy (Lori) Gongwer of Carlisle, Iowa, and Ray (Jenny) Gongwer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Lorraine, Margaret, Butch, Lucille, Rita, Louis and Clete; and his best friend, Ken White.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to The Word Among Us.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Woodlands for the love and support they showed Ken while he was in their care.
