Kenneth E. Banks, 81, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, with inurnment to follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Kenneth E. Banks was born on Dec. 13, 1940, to Artemus and Edna (Alvis) Banks in Big Springs, Texas. He was united in marriage to Jeanne Perkinson (Cosper) on Sept. 5, 1985. Ken loved country music, deer hunting, Local 125 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and so many of his union brothers he worked alongside throughout his life-long career as a welder.
Survivors include his son, Kelly Banks of Iowa City; daughter, Tosha Stein (Banks) of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Deborah “Sue” Drinkwater of Wichita, Kan.; brother-in-law, Roger Drinkwater of Wichita, Kan.; nephew, Eric Drinkwater of Wichita, Kan.; nephew, Jared Drinkwater of Wichita, Kan.; great-niece, Leah Drinkwater of Wichita, Kan.; great-niece, Emily Drinkwater of Wichita, Kan.; stepchildren, Deborah Perkinson of Glen Carbon, Ill.; Kathy Olson of Northfield, Minn.; and Brian Perkinson of Chicago, Ill.; along with seven step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Artemus “Jack” Banks and Edna Banks; his wife, Jeanne Banks; brother, Donald Banks; and daughter, Tracy Banks.
The family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
