Keith Davis

Keith Davis, age 85, of Massillon, died Wednesday, November 16, 2022, while in the care of Aultman Woodlawn Compassionate Care Center at Canton.

Born in Nottingham, England on June 3, 1937, Keith was a son of the late Joseph W. and Freda N. Joyce Davis.

As a young teen, Keith moved to the United States to live with family at West Point, New York. He later moved to Columbus, Ohio and began his college education at The Ohio State University where he earned a Bachelor of Metallurgical Engineering.

For many years Keith worked in various metal-based industries and enjoyed studying metals within those firms. He spent the greatest amount of his career at Republic Steel where he held various jobs through the years and even was afforded the opportunity to do quite a bit of traveling to other plants throughout the US and other continents. After retiring at age 60 from the former Enduro Steel, Keith worked for five years as an independent consultant forming his own firm, Davis Metallurgical.

Keith enjoyed fishing, watching and feeding the birds, working outside, reading, following the stock market, and gatherings with his family.

On August 27, 1959, he married the former Sondra Lightell; the couple met while Sondra was attending beauty school in Columbus. Together they have four children, Keith M. (Kathy) Davis of Connecticut, Lisa (Mark) Fortune of Michigan, Jennifer (Paul) Cowan of Massillon, and Sonya (Greg) McCue of East Canton, 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Completing their family is his sister, Freda Gardner of South Carolina, numerous nieces, nephews, special cousins, and extended family members.

In keeping with Keith’s wishes, cremation care will take place. The family is planning a celebration of Keith’s life at a later date. The Geib Funeral Center at Dover is handling arrangements.
