Kathleen Ann Taylor of Marion died unexpectedly at home Tuesday, July 25, 2023. She was born to parents Jack and Ruth Piper on Dec. 30, 1947. Jack died when she was four. Ruth married James Nielson when Kathy was 10 and Jim adopted her and her brother John. Jim was a loving father who they called Dad.

Kathy graduated locally from Washington High School and St. Luke’s

School of Nursing. She worked at

St. Luke’s hospital for 10 years until becoming a stay-at-home mom. She later worked at Keys to Living Christian Counseling and Aid to Women (now Bridgehaven Pregnancy Center) until she retired in 2013.

Kathy was active in various organizations including Christian Women’s Club (now Morning Connection). It was here in 1976 that she heard the clear message of Jesus’ death and resurrection during a talk by Lavonne Landis. She then devoted her life to Jesus in various ways, mostly with children. She met Dave at St. Luke’s while playing in the band at Coe College.
