Karen Louise Wernimont, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and inspiration. Known for her unwavering positivity and generous heart, Karen touched countless lives through her actions, words, and the quiet strength she displayed in every situation.
Born with a vibrant spirit, Karen carried her lively energy into all aspects of her life. Whether through her relationships, or her passions, she lived with purpose and dedication, always striving to make the world a better place for those around her.
Karen was deeply loved by her family and friends, who will forever remember her thoughtful advice, and her ability to bring joy into the simplest of moments. Her ability to connect with people on a profound level was a gift, and those who had the privilege to know her will carry her memory in their hearts.
She had a profound love for her family, friends, and community, which she expressed through her hobbies and contributions to local initiatives. Karen celebrated life’s beauty with a unique perspective that inspired those around her to pause and appreciate the present.
Her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her legacy serves as a reminder to live each day with gratitude, courage, and compassion. Karen will be missed dearly, but her spirit continues to live on in the lives she touched and the stories she leaves behind.
Karen is survived by two sons, Brad and Wife Kami Wernimont of Orange Beach, AL, and Steven Wernimont and Husband Ric of Denver, CO; one grandson, Brett Wernimont and girlfriend Serinity Taha of North Liberty, IA; a brother, Bruce and Wife Marty Outzen of Surprise, AZ; and a sister, DeAnn and Husband Ronnie Heart of Longwood, FL.
Karen was predeceased by her husband, William Wernimont, her parents, Harold and Theorta Outzen and her brother John Outzen.
A private memorial service will be held to honor Karen’s life by her family in the coming days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Hospice in her memory.
Rest in peace, Karen. You will always be remembered with love and grace.
