Joe Kiecksee, age 50 of Marion, Iowa, passed away due to complications resulting from a dissected aorta on July 27, 2024. Services for Joe will be held at Grace Episcopal Church in Cedar Rapids on August 10th, 2024, beginning at 12:00 P.M, with a visitation and viewing prior from 10-12:00 P.M. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.

Joe was born November 8, 1973, in Cedar Rapids to Alan and Paula Kiecksee. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 1992. On January 5, 2002, Joe married the love of his life Thamson Gonzales. Together, they had two wonderful sons.

Joe had the sharpest sense of humor. He kept everyone around him in stitches. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, was extremely intelligent, and had the greatest love for his family. Those who knew him described him as a deliciously witty, humble, and patient man. He was a very active friend of Bill W for many years, through whom he met Thamson.

Joe served honorably in the army in Germany and United States prior to starting his career as a union industrial plumber at local 125 for 25 years, where he was serving as an alternate on the apprenticeship committee.

Joe is survived by his wife Thamson (Gonzales) Kiecksee; Sons Cameron Cruz Alan Kiecksee, Christian Joseph Kiecksee; Father Alan Kiecksee; Sister Jen Kiecksee, all of Marion, IA; Mother-in-law Jeri Gonzales; Brother-in-law Anthony Gonzales, both of Cedar Rapids, IA; and his best friend Brandon Reynolds.

Preceding his passing is his mother, Paula Kiecksee; and father-in-law Carl Gonzales.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all the staff at UIHC, Dr. Singhal, his cardiac team, and a special thank you to Dr. Marian Hamand for her care and compassion, and going above and beyond, meeting their greatest expectations.
