Joseph is survived by his children Joseph E. Hunt Jr., Aris Hunt, Rhonda (Terry) Brown, Aaron (Denise) Hunt, Joseph O. Hunt (Tami); siblings Elaine (Frank) Townsend, Rose (Junior) Doughty, Rita (Joseph) Collins, Paul Hunt, Peter Hunt, Joyce (Louis) Harris, Robert Hunt; grandchildren Brandon Ikner, Rhyan Ikner, Shermera Chamblis, Shorita Harris, Latoine Byrd, Joseph O. Hunt Jr., Aaryn Davis, Justin Malcolm, Lawrence Hunt, Chance Montague, Jasiah Tallhamer, Caden Hunt; 22 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Joseph is preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Anna Mae Hunt.
