Joseph Donato Anastasio

Joseph Donato Anastasio, 96,  of Hendersonville, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and his beloved wife, Dagmar on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at his residence. He was a native of Brooklyn, NY and was preceded in death by his wife, Dagmar and his parents, Pasquale and Fortunta of Italy and then Brooklyn, NY, three sisters and one brother.

Joe served in World War II in the European Theater. He fought in both the Invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He retired after almost 30 years with the city of New York, NY Department of Transportation. Joe was a lifelong devout Roman Catholic.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews of New York and Germany.

A prayer service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, July 8^th, 2021, in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Joe will lie in state from 1-2pm prior to the service in the chapel. Military honors will follow the service in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
