Joseph Delbert Bland, Jr.

AULANDER, NC – Joseph Delbert Bland, Jr., age 73, passed away on September 13, 2022, at the ECU Health Medical Center, Greenville, NC.

Mr. Bland was born in Bertie County, NC, on January 30, 1949, a son of the late Joseph Delbert and Lucille Hoggard Bland. Delbert enjoyed working with his hands and was a talented carpenter for most of his career. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Besides his parents, Junior was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Bland, and a great granddaughter, Elizabeth Amara Bland.

Joseph is survived by his two sons, Ronnie Bland and wife, Wendy of Seaboard, NC, and Brian Bland and wife, Alisa of Woodland, NC; two granddaughters, Harley (Joey) Whitehead of Rocky Mount, NC, and Peyton Odom of Seaboard, NC; two grandsons, Brian Bland, Jr. of Ahoskie, NC, and Christian (Olivia) Bland of Rich Square, NC; two great granddaughters, Alisa Whitehead, and Piper Whitehead; two great grandsons, Jonathan Whitehead, and Brandon Bland, Jr.; two brothers, Kenneth (Jane) Bland of Millennium, NC, and Richard (Debbie) Bland of Murfreesboro, NC; and a sister, Kathy Williford of Millennium, NC.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Greg Hurdle, officiating. Burial will follow in Hall-Rogerson Cemetery, Aulander, NC.
