Joseph D. Teer, Sr.

Joseph D. Teer, Sr., 86, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at his home. He was born January 16, 1935, in Dixon, the son of Joseph and Flora (Wells) Teer. He married Betty J. McNamara on November 30, 1957 and she survives.

Also surviving are four children, Catherine “Kitty” (Tim) Lantz, Joseph (Laura) Teer, Jr., Michael (Cathy) Teer, and Elizabeth Marbold (companion: Kelvin Shockley), all of Springfield; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret (Jim) Davis of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Joseph was of the Catholic faith. He belonged to the Anchor Boat Club and was a member of Teamsters Local 916. He was an avid Bears, Blackhawks and Cardinals fan. He loved to watch his grandchildren play sports including, SHG football and soccer and Williamsville football. Joseph was a United States Army veteran. He worked as a Teamster, truckdriver and warehouse manager for Budweiser.

Memorial Gathering: 9:30 – 11:30 am, Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home.

Memorial Service: 11:30 am, Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home, with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Protective League or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The family requests that guests wear casual attire.
