John W. Northen Jr.

John W. Northen, Jr. passed away on February 14, 2021. He was 78 years old. John was born in Chicago on August 13, 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty (nee Hagan) Northen. John is survived by his uncle John Williams and his cousins Roger Williams, Ron Williams, Mary (Williams) Ortiz, Michelle Williams, Maureen Sullivan, and John Lauer, as well as many nieces and nephews. John spent his entire career with the Chicago Police Department rising to the rank of Sergeant. John loved his fellow officers like brothers and sisters. More importantly, he loved the City of Chicago and truly lived out the Department’s creed to protect and serve its citizens. John received several commendations and numerous other awards from the Department and was dedicated to the execution of his duties. He was always committed to helping his fellow officers. John had many friends, who loved (and sometimes endured) his numerous idiosyncrasies. He was devoted to his dogs, Bailey and Boomer. They provided John with the same kindness and love John had for his close friends. The service and burial will be private. Donations to PAWS Chicago, 1997 N.
