John G. “Jack” Tumulty

John G. “Jack” Tumulty, age 83, loving father, grandfather and brother, passed on April 10, 2021. He was born February 12, 1938, in Springfield, Illinois, to John Tumulty and Rose E. Donath Tumulty. He married Rose Schuchardt on August 30, 1956 and were married for 54 years until Rose’s passing in 2010.

Jack, a lifelong resident of Springfield, Illinois, served as a fireman for Springfield Fire Department for 20 years and worked maintenance at Elliot Avenue Baptist Church for 20 years following his retirement from Springfield Fire Department.

Surviving are his son, John Tumulty (Libbie); daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Hewitt-Tumulty; brother, Lawrence Tumulty (Bev); grandson, Jeremy Tumulty; granddaughter, Erin Alton Tumulty (Andrew); and his dog, Missy.

Jack’s parents, wife, 6 sisters, and 3 brothers preceded him in death.

Memorial Gathering: 9:00 – 10:00 am, Saturday, April 17, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Church.

Memorial Mass: 10:00 am, Saturday, April 17, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Church with Reverend Manuel P. Cuizon officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Animal Protective League.
