JoAnn Torgler

JoAnn Torgler, 77, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, December 9, 2021, in Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital at Dover.

Born in Dover on September 4, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Roosevelt and Erma Marie (Welfley) Bean.

After graduating from New Philadelphia High School in 1962, JoAnn met and fell in love with her husband, the late Jerry E. Torgler, at the Quick Shake on the Boulevard. They were wed on August 8, 1965 and shared 50 years of marriage prior to his passing on October 27, 2015. Together, they were members of Roxford United Methodist Church as well as Performance Ford Association.

Jerry and JoAnn worked side by side for many years restoring and rebuilding countless Ford Vehicles and co-owning Torgler & Sons Equipment. They also enjoyed caring for their yard and eating out together.

After Jerry’s passing, JoAnn was blessed with a wonderful group of friends who were widowed. Together, they took bus trips and were often found eating breakfast at Dee’s Restaurant in Dover. She also had cherished friendships from the First Church of the Nazarene in New Philadelphia where she worshiped most recently.

JoAnn will be deeply missed by her children, Jerry E. “J.T.” (April) Torgler, II, of New Philadelphia and Jamie (Marcy) Torgler of Florida; grandchildren, Meila and Sofia Torgler and Jordan Bailey; her sister, Sue Campbell of New Philadelphia; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, JoAnn was preceded in passing by her siblings, Robert (Catherine) Bean and Mary Lou (Richard) Baab; and brother-in-law, John Campbell.

A private service and inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions in JoAnn’s memory may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
