Jerry Thomas Sr.

Jerry Thomas Sr.

Jerry Thomas Sr., 63, of Mansfield, affectionately referred to as “Poppy” by those who loved him most and “Brownie” and “Hillbilly” by his friends, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.

Jerry was born on February 11, 1958 in Ashland, Kentucky. He was the son of Ray and Cloma (Reeves) Thomas. A hard worker who worked hard to provide for his family driving truck and doing excavating work. He was very handy and always had some kind of project going. A Christian man, Jerry lived his life to be an example and a role model to others. His family was most important in his life, and he cherished the moments they shared together. Jerry was loved by everyone and never met a stranger. He could always be found making others laugh and joking around, he certainly knew the importance of laughter. He loved being outdoors gardening and canning with his wife, riding his motorcycle, hunting, and fishing with Justin.

His legacy will live on through his loved ones who survive him, his wife of 40 years, Kathy Thomas; his children, Heather Thomas, Jerry Thomas Jr., Kayla Thomas, Hannah Thomas, and Justin Thomas; his cherished grandchildren, Cynthia, Candace, Charles, Carter, and Catrina Thomas; four sisters; five brothers; and a special friend, Fred Ickert. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his mother-in-law, Sylvia Snyder.

Family and friends may visit from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, Ohio 44902. A funeral service will follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Pastors Ferlie Yates and Rob Ratcliff officiating. Jerry will be laid to rest at Franklin Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
