Jennette B. Wallis

Jennette (Jinny) B. Wallis of Plano, Illinois and Lake George, Indiana passed away on December 13th, 2021 just a month shy of her 90th birthday.  She was born in Plano on January 12, 1932 to C.O. and Effie (Henning) Nelson.  She was married to Donald Wallis on July 21. 1951.  Jinny worked at Lyon Metal while Don served in the Army during the Korean War.  After the war she and Don settled in Plano where she thoroughly enjoyed being a homemaker and stay-at-home mom.  Jinny always had a busy social calendar.  She was a member of Plano Junior Women’s Club, a golfer and member of Cedardell Golf Club, a Pink Lady at Sandwich Hospital, a member of Plano United Methodist Church, Women’s Auxiliary of the Plano Legion, served as room mother for all of her kids and was a Girl Scout Cookie mom.  After retirement Don and Jinny moved to their cottage on Lake George to enjoy the lake as year-round residents.  Jinny didn’t skip a beat and became a member of the Red Hatters and loved coffee with friends at Tom’s Donuts.  But her favorite activity was playing bridge.  Some called her an “unorthodox player” but she truly loved everything about the game, and was good at it.  As a fifth generation laker she had lifelong friends who felt like family.  She and Don loved watching their kids grow up with three next generation of lakers.

Jinny is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Her son Larry (Mae) Wallis of Lake George, Indiana, Kim (Van) Thompson of Somonauk, Illinois, and Aubrey (Chris) Toft of Colorado.  Her oldest daughter Doni (Dan) Morgan and their children Sam and Molly of Sandwich, Illinois.  Her youngest daughter Nancy (Jim) Love of Plano, Illinois and their four children, Claire (Andy) Schwartz of Newark, Illinois. Logan (girlfriend Amanda Kolbe) Love of DeKalb, Illinois Dr. Paige (Dr. Noah) King of Plainfield, Illinois, and Libby (fiance’ Patrick Killelea) Love of Eldridge, IA.  One of Jinny’s greatest joys was being a “Grandma Great” to her four great-grandchildren; August, Andrew and Edith Schwartz and Henry King.

Surviving family members include Jim (Jane) Wallis of Mendota, Illinois, Star (Neal) Lobdell of Plano, Illinois, Peggy Nelson of Rockledge, Florida and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Don Wallis, her parents, three brothers and sister-in-laws Tucker (Marge), Bill (Mary Jean), Dave, and sister Nancy.  Her sister-in-law Bev (Archie) Tuntland, Myrleen (Robert) Martner, Gretta (Willie) Maier, Billy Maier, and Charmaine (Harold) Pearson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 10:00 – 1:00 at the Plano United Methodist Church.  The funeral will follow at 1:00 with Pastor Steve Saunders officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Little Rock Cemetery in Plano, Illinois.
