Jean Sorenson, 95, of Granbury, Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.  Jean was born in Beloit, Wisconsin November 25, 1925 to Howard and Bernice Baldwin.

 

Celebration of Life: 2:00 PM, Saturday June 5, 2021 at Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury, Texas.

 

She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, majoring in Physical Education. She spent 15 years teaching in Wisconsin, Michigan and South Dakota. Her love of teaching never ended. In the summers, she enjoyed being a camp counselor at Camp Onaway, Hebron, New Hampshire and a resort at Big Stone Lake, Wisconsin. Jean married Calvin Sorenson June 16, 1956 in Eau Clair, Wisconsin and they resided in Brookings, South Dakota until they moved to Huron, South Dakota where they owned and operated a motel and hardware store.  She helped many people that were in transition at the motel. Jean volunteered her time with the church, senior center, nursing home and many other charities.  She was recognized by the community in Huron, South Dakota for her volunteer work. Jean moved to Granbury, Texas in 2001.  She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Granbury Texas. She enjoyed fishing all types of sports, especially football.  She always had a positive outlook on life and wanted to help people.  She met and helped thousands of people in her lifetime.  These acts of kindness enriched her life, as well as theirs.

 

Jean was preceded in death by husband, Calvin Sorenson; parents, Howard Baldwin and Bernice Baldwin Zeman; Sisters, Helen Eib and Dorothy Peterson.

 

Jean is survived by daughter, Karen Lindner and son-in-Law, Dean Lindner (Granbury, Texas); Sister, Ruth Hay (Rockville, Maryland), and many nieces and nephews.
