James T. Middleton, Sr.
James T. Middleton, Sr. 83, of Springfield, died at 9:55 am, Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born March 23, 1939 in East St. Louis, IL, to Joe Tracy and Myrle (Spickard) Middleton. He married Gloria Ellen Cain on May 7, 1965 and she survives.
Also surviving are one son, James (Cherry) Middleton, Jr. of Springfield; one daughter, Lynn (Brian, Sr.) Romanotto of Dawson; three grandchildren, Jimmy (Andrea Beierle) Middleton, III, Alisha (Mihai) Tudoreanu, and Brian (Christa) Romanotto, Jr; eight great grandchildren, Peyton, Alannah, Lauren, Briella, Ezra, Kai, Mercedes and Jayden.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim was a member of Eastview Baptist Church. He retired from the State of Illinois Department of Human Services after 43 years of service.
Jim was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed watching western movies, Illini and Packers games, woodworking, latch hooking and word searches. His favorite thing though was spending time with his family. Jim was quick witted with a great sense of humor.
Visitation: 10 am – 12 pm, Monday, November 21, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 12 pm, Monday, November 21, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Pastor Bennie Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
