James Lee “Jim” Scott

 

James Lee “Jim” Scott, 86, passed away June 15, 2021, in Granbury.  A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Acton United Methodist Church, 3433 Fall Creek Highway, Acton.  Inurnment will take place at a later date at the National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.

Jim was born on September 21, 1934, to Lee Ashton and Hope (Knauer) Scott in Ottawa, Kansas.  He graduated from St. George High School, St. George, Kansas in 1952.  Following graduation, he attended Kansas State University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.  In 1954 Jim transferred to Washburn University in Topeka.  While there he was a member of the Ichabod basketball team and cadet commander of AFROTC.  On November 17, 1956, Jim married his college sweetheart Shirley Clinkenbeard.  Following graduation, he served in the US Air Force from 1956 – 1963 as a captain with the 548th Atlas Missile Squadron. He enjoyed a successful career in sales and marketing with 3M Company for many years.  Jim retired from 3M in 1990.  In retirement he and Shirley enjoyed traveling and socializing with their many good friends.  Jim loved to make people laugh.  In memory of him, think of those times when he made you laugh.  If you never knew him then honor him by thinking your favorite joke or a time that you laughed so hard that you had to catch your breath. Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley of Granbury, Texas; his son Steven Lee Scott of Los Angeles, California; his daughter Cynthia Lu Webster and her husband Roland Webster of Fort Worth, Texas.  In lieu of flowers, please remember Jim with a donation to Acton United Methodist Church.
