Jack Mendelson

Jack David Mendelson, 87, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022, in Florida surrounded by
peace and love. Jack was born to Isadore and Helen (Sebulsky) Mendelson on Nov. 5, 1934 in
Bellaire, Ohio. Jack had many joys and interests, his family, his friends, his love for his country
and community, his Jewish faith, support for Israel, reading, hot coffee and corned beef
sandwiches. He earned a BA and BS degree from Miami of Ohio University and served in the
Army at White Sands Missile Range, NM. Jack was the owner of Imperial Display Company Inc.
and Mendelson’s Children Shop. Jack was a master mason of Ionic Lodge #438, F & A.M.,
Bellaire, Ohio, attaining his 32 degree with Scottish Rite. He was active in downtown Wheeling
and a Board member of the Chamber of Commerce. Jack taught Business Management at
Wheeling Jesuit and was President of both the Synagogue of Israel and Temple Shalom.
Retiring to Florida, Jack remained active as he was President of his building and owner of the
local Insider Newspaper. He did what he enjoyed and was able to do it all until the end which was a blessing. Left to remember and celebrate his life is his wife, Miriam, her children, Sheli, Scott (Julie),Kevin (Nancy) Tinkelman, grandkids (Gavin, Chance, Asher, Ryan, Adam, Marli). Jack is also survived by his first wife, Marilyn, sons, Andy (Jen), Matt (Sharon) Mendelson, grandkids (Max,Joel, Alex, Sophia, Mya) niece, Rebecca Schwam (Mendelson). Jack was predeceased by his son, Stu, brother, Dr. Robert Mendelson. Always involved in life and his community as an active citizen, business owner and a truly caring individual, Jack will be dearly missed by all. Funeral Services will be at Temple Shalom in Wheeling, WV, Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Winding Hill Jewish Cemetery in Bellaire, OH. Food and memories will follow at Temple Shalom. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jack’s name can be made to Temple Shalom Sebulsky Aesthetics Fund by going to TMCFunding.com.
