Hugh “Fergie” Joseph Ferguson II

Hugh “Fergie” Joseph Ferguson II, 93, of Springfield, passed away on August 10, 2021 at The Villas of Holly Brook. He was born August 6, 1928, in Springfield, the son of Hugh Joseph and Stella Smith Ferguson. He married Patricia Colleen Weyrauch on March 24, 1950.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Patricia; three children: son, David (Barbara) Ferguson of Branson, MO, daughter, Carole (James) Britton of Springfield and son, Joe (fiancé: Lucy) Ferguson of Branson, MO; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Cherie (Tony) Denk of Williamsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Hugh is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Gerald (Donna) Ferguson, Sam Ferguson and Phil (Donna) Ferguson; one sister, Joyce Ferguson; and two sons, John Ferguson and Tim Ferguson.

Hugh was a resident of Springfield all of his life. He was a US Navy veteran, serving during WWII. He was a long-time member of Calvary Church. He retired as an electrician at Pillsbury and the owner of Angelo’s Pizza, the best pizza in Springfield, once located on West Jefferson St. Hugh was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Visitation: 11 am – 1 pm, Friday, August 13, 2021 at Calvary Church, 1730 West Jefferson St, Springfield, IL.

Funeral Service: 1 pm, Friday, August 13, 2021 at Calvary Church with Pastor Paul Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Old Salem Cemetery with military honors being conducted.
