Herbert   Jones  Sr.

Herbert Edward Jones Sr. was born to the late Mordecai and Helen Jones. He was the third of six children. Growing up in Twinsburg Township, he attended various churches but decided to join Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was baptized at an early age.

On September 18, 1971, Herbert and Renee united in marriage and to the union four children were born. He was No. 2 fan and Renne the 1st of all children and grandchildren’s events. The incredibly young grandchildren “Tooglies” really warmed his heart.

He was employed with U.S Steel and retired from Chrysler as an electrician. Graduating from Twinsburg City Schools, he enjoyed playing various sports. Herbert enjoyed the Motown Sound and in his younger years he played drums in several bands in the area. He was a great cook with a specialty in barbequing. He had a love for nature, gardening, fishing, feeding the birds and television; his favorite shows being, Judge Judy, Animal Planet, and Cleveland Sports.

Herbert was preceded in death by his wife, Renee Jones; parents, Mordecai, and Helen Jones; sister, Carolyn Golden; and two brothers, Donald Jones, and Paul Jones.

 

Herbert leaves to cherish his memories, daughters, Jennette (Demetrius) Willis of Akron, Oh, Jasmine (Ronald) Berrett of Aurora, Oh and Jalonda (Desmond) Jones-Singleton of Bedford, Oh; one son, Herbert Jones II of Twinsburg, Oh; and one daughter-like figure Rosemond Phiri of Twinsburg, Oh; brother, Mordecai (Bertha) Jones Jr. of Rochester, NY; sister, Arlette (Gerald) Bingham of Twinsburg, OH; grandchildren, Tamari and Calil; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
