Herbert J. Dulle

Herbert J. Dulle, 84, of Springfield, died at 4:09 pm, Thursday, September 29, 2022, at St. John’s Hospital. He was born February 9, 1938, in Jefferson City, MO, to Albert John and Helen Frances Judge Dulle. He married his true love of more than 51 years, Helen M. Johnson on June 9, 1971, at Christ the King and she survives.

Also surviving are his brothers-in-law, Joe, Charles, Richard and Kenneth Johnson and their families and his two dogs, Choko and Dusty.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Herbert grew up in Jefferson City, MO. After the death of his father, he moved to Quincy with his mother. He received his undergraduate degree from Quincy College in 1961 and earned his master’s degree in 1967 from the University of Montana.

He was a devoted Catholic and a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He had a great love and respect for the Quincy Franciscan Friars.

Herbert was a Mathematics Teacher for over thirty years and retired from Springfield High School. He assisted Helen as a statistician for the Sacred Heart Blazers, where Helen taught and coached volleyball.

He played the guitar and loved country music. He could tell you any country music fact. He owned many train sets and had a room set aside to display them. He also could tell you about any Illinois/Missouri train track and station. Recently, he enjoyed watching the trains come into the station.

Memorial Gathering: 9-10:30 am, Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Memorial Mass: 10:30 am, Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with a concelebration mass of Christian burial.

Graveside Service: 1:30 pm, Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Woodburn Cemetery in Bunker Hill.
