Harold Lee Russell

Harold Lee Russell was born on Dec. 25,1941 to Howard and Marion Brotherton Russell in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Harold was proud to be born on the day celebrated as Jesus’s birthday. When Harold was two years old, the family moved to Little Rock, Arkansas. He attended the neighborhood Baptist church. When the church group went to a Billy Graham Crusade, Harold accepted Jesus as his savior. He was later baptized by Pastor Brother Jack. Harold attended Little Rock schools. After high school, Harold worked for his father’s company, Sheridan Furniture Manufacturing Company. He traveled in the middle and north central states for several years.

In 1962, Harold was introduced to Patsy Merritt for a blind date. They dated for a year then married at Gardner Methodist Church on June 22, 1963, in North Little Rock, Arkansas. They moved to Texas for Harold to work at the Furniture Mart and to travel in the Texas area. Patsy was hired by Arlington ISD as a teacher, so they moved to Arlington. Several months later, Harold started working at the Arlington General Motors plant where he worked for forty years. He retired in 2004. Harold joined the National Guard in 1966 and served for six years.

They began their family and were blessed with Brad, Chad, and Paige Ann who was called to Jesus in 2018 and has welcomed Harold to heaven. God blessed them again with the birth of their grandson, Justin Russell in 1998.They belonged to the Pantego Bible Church where Patsy accepted Jesus. Harold served as Chief Ranger of the Christian service Boys Brigade for several years. In 2001, Harold and Patsy built a home in Granbury on a high bluff overlooking the Bravos River. He loved fishing, boating, and feeding the deer. Harold was gifted with mechanical, and wood working skills and made many beautiful items. Harold enjoyed studying God’s word. He and Patsy enjoyed playing poker with friends at the Granbury VFW and American Legion. They also enjoyed trips to WinStar for fun and good food.

They are members of the Fellowship at Weatherford Church where they were blessed with the fellowship and friendship of many believers. Harold went home to Jesus on April 20, 2023, after a battle with heart failure. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his precious Paige in 2018. Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Patsy; sons Brad Russell and his wonderful wife Diana of Weatherford Texas; Chad Russell of Saginaw, Texas and grandson Justin Russell of Mansfield, Texas. Other survivors include brothers Jack Russell of Arlington; Jerry Russell of Benton, Arkansas; Frank Russell of Sherwood, Arkansas; sister Shirley Bridges of Little Rock Arkansas and many nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life service will be on May 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at The Fellowship at Weatherford Church 2721 S Main St. in Weatherford, Texas. Memorials may be made to the church in honor of Harold.
