Harold Glen Rohwedder, 99, of Olin, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Clarence Senior Living in Clarence, Iowa.
Harold was born on July 29, 1925, in Hale, Iowa, to Hans and Leona (Clay) Rohwedder. He graduated from Olin High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, witnessing the historic signing of peace in Tokyo Bay. On July 18, 1948, he was united in marriage to Betty Jane Frank at St. John Lutheran Church in Olin. Together, they farmed southwest of Olin and shared a strong and loving partnership.
A lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church and the Blayney Minor Post 412 American Legion in Olin, Harold was known for his deep faith, devotion to his family, and his strong sense of service and community. He had a passion for woodworking and was an avid golfer and bowler. He often expressed how thankful he was to have shared so many years of golf and bowling with his beloved wife, Betty.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Keith (Sandy) Rohwedder of Mechanicsville; daughter-in-law, Alyce Rohwedder of Olin; grandchildren; Nick Lnenicka, Jessica (Josh) Nicely, Devin (Rebecca) Rohwedder, Alexandra (Jordan) Cole, great-grandchildren; Jace, Dakota, Summer, Jackson and Aubree.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; his son, Kevin; two sisters, Helen and Ella; and three brothers, Arthur, Walter, and Lyle.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Church in Olin. A visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 am on Saturday, May 31 at St. John Lutheran Church in Olin with burial and military honors to follow at Olin Cemetery. Dawson Funeral Services of Olin is caring for Harold’s family.
