Harold F. Boede

Harold F. Boede, 93, of Springfield, died at 8:35 am, Thursday, March 11, 2021 at his home.  He was born September 9, 1927, in Batchtown, IL to Fred W. and Freda M. Franke Boede.  He married Dolores J. Fiedler on June 4, 1949 and she preceded him in death on September 10, 1982.

Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl (Greg) Cox of Columbus, OH; two grandsons, Matthew (Angela) Cox of Columbus, OH and Michael (Sarah) Cox of Felton, PA; four great grandchildren, Anthony, Ryan, Ned and Olin; one sister, Norma (Orville) Fiedler of Bethalto and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and twin sisters, Doris Shinn and Dorothy Rowold.

Harold was a member of Luther Memorial Church where he was the Treasurer for thirty six years. He also served as Treasurer for eight years with the  Central/Southern Illinois Synod, ELCA. He was a member of  Kiwanis Club of Springfield Downtown, from which he was recipient of the Kiwanis International George F. Hixon Fellowship Award and Legion of Honor Years of Service; Jacksonville Country Club and a forty year member of the Sangamo Club.

He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan and an avid Golfer and Bowler.  He had won several awards and plaques.  He enjoyed dining at Fritz’s Wagon Wheel at his designated Seat called “Hal’s Corner”.

Harold was a graduate of the School of Banking at University of Wisconsin.  He served as Commissioner of Bank & Trust Company of Illinois; served as Bank Examiner and Chief Executive; Executive Assistant; and Manager for the Interstate Banking Division during his 42 years of employment with the State of Illinois, retiring on December 30, 1990.

Visitation: 2 -5 pm, Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service:  11 am, Monday, March 22, 2021 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Reverend Gene Henke officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kiwanis Club of Springfield Downtown or Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
