Glennda Lee Dennler, 68, of rural Elkader, passed away peacefully at Mercy One Hospital in Elkader Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023. She was born Nov. 27, 1954, in Monticello, Iowa, to Glenn and Evelyn (Semmert) Streets. Glennda was united in marriage to Rick Dennler on Jan. 3, 1975. They became the parents of four children.

Glennda graduated from Central City High School in 1973. Following high school, she attended Kirkwood and received her Associates Degree in Fashion Merchandising. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm when needed, but put most of her time into raising their children. Once the children were older, Glennda worked outside of the home at Land’s End from 1994-2004. In 2005, she began work as a para-educator for Central Community School at the elementary level. (Some of her grandchildren were fortunate enough to have her there with them). She retired from Central in 2016.

Glennda was a Sunday School teacher, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, volunteered at school, was in a couple’s and women’s bowling league, was actively involved in her children’s activities and enjoyed time spent as a family. Glennda also loved making crafts, especially with her mother-in-law, Ivy. They traveled to many shows and had so much fun. Glennda later opened “The Granary,” at her home, where she redid furniture and other items.

Glennda was the perfect example of love. She always said that when she was little, all she wanted was to be a “mom.” She was the best mom, wife and grandma. She was so much fun and such a light. She found the good in everything, made family her top priority and loved being a grandma so much. She was her family’s biggest supporter, always looked on the bright side and made everyone feel so loved. She loved her parents more than words and talking about them would bring her to tears. She is now Home with them and at peace.

Those left to cherish Glennda’s memory include her husband, Rick; children,n Bradley (Shannon) Dennler of Grundy Center, Brandie Erickson of Elgin; Scott (Natalie) Dennler of Columbus City, Heidi (Jeremy) Mueller of Fayette; 10 grandchildren, Nicholas and Hannah Dennler, Caden and Payton Erickson, Ivy and Maverick Dennler, Juilus, Alivia, Alexander and Kaspianna Mueller; one great-grandchild, Thomas Cardona and one on the way; brother, Tom Streets, Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law, Rebbecca (Layne) Tielbar; brother-in-law, Ron (Nancy) Dennler; and many nieces and nephews and her sweet pup, Bella.
