George M. Smith

George M. Smith, 69, of Loudonville, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021 at his home, Smith’s Pleasant Valley Campground in Loudonville.

 

George was born on November 8, 1951 in Sikeston, Missouri. He was the son of George and Ruth (McIntyre) Smith. George and his wife, Amy have owned and operated Smith’s Pleasant Valley Campground on the Mohican River for the past twenty nine years. He previously was employed at Moore’s Building Supply in Mansfield, Ohio. George knew what it was to put in a days work and work hard, and was teased that he was a work-a-holic. The big guy with the beard was very much a family man who loved making memories and spending time with his family. His hobbies include camping, traveling, fishing, and of course telling stories.

 

He leaves behind his wife, Amy Smith; his daughter, Kim (Scott) Smith; his grandchildren, Madison and Marissa Smith; his siblings, Vanessa McGarity, Janie (Gary) Forshee, and William Smith all of Sikeston, MO; his brother-in-law, Matt (Beth) Tharp; and sister-in-law, Joy Nixon. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his in-laws, Jim and Pat Tharp.

 

George was able to give back as a research organ donor for the Ohio Tissue and Eye Bank. He will be also be donating for research to the National Temporal Bone Donor Program at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Institute.

 

There will be no public services observed. Memorial contributions may be made to OhioHealth Hospice. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the Smith family.
