Franklin Glubka, 76, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, with a visitation one hour prior. Inurnment: St. John’s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Luncheon will follow inurnment at Cowboy Church in Walford, Iowa. Please attend to share a beer in honor of Franklin.
Franklin was born Feb. 14, 1947, in Winona, Minn., the son of Franklin and Leona (Loth) Glubka. He served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1966-68 during the Vietnam war. Franklin was united in marriage to Dianne Ceynar on Sept. 16, 1971; she passed away in 1987. He worked for Cherry Burrell Corp./Evergreen Packaging for 34 years before retirement. Franklin was united in marriage to Denise Marie McCallum on June 23, 1989.
He was a member of Cowboy Church in Walford. The Lord was a large part of his life. He wanted to share and spread the love of Christ.
Franklin started his own band, County Generation and played for over 20 years. He was a black belt in Taekwondo. Franklin loved bowling, camping and spending time with his family, which was incredibly important to him. He was liked by many and could light up a room. Franklin was lovingly referred to as “Mr. Wonderful.”
Survivors include his children, Tracy Glubka (Dan Weimer) and Adam (Stephanie) Glubka; grandchildren, Makayla Glubka, Laura (Dallas) Dyson, Bethany Smith, Mikayla Wullner, Staci Wullner, Hunter Glubka and Conner Glubka; and four siblings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Leona Glubka; wife, Denise Glubka; brother, Roger Glubka; and sister, Wanda Brouwer.
