Frances S. Shepherd

Frances Schaaf Shepherd, 104, passed away in Williamsburg on Saturday, April 17, 2021.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Brigadier General James McMenamin Shepherd. Survivors include her two sons, William F. Shepherd (Carol) and James S. Shepherd (Ashma); four grandchildren, Aline Frances, Mary Catherine (Melinda), James E. (Melinda) and David C. (Bridget) and eight great grandchildren. She graduated from the Extension of William and Mary in Richmond and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at William and Mary in Williamsburg in 1938. She was a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, the Azalea Garden Club, a life member of the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs, the Heritage Republican Women’s Club, and the XX Century Art Gallery.  Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contribution can be made to the local Salvation Army or the Veterans fund.
