Floyd Eugene Hunt

Floyd Eugene Hunt, age 87, of Waterman, Illinois passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022 at his home with caregivers and family present.  He was born on February 17, 1935 in Waterman, the son of Harold and Doris (Kopp) Hunt.  He attended Waterman High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1953.

 

Floyd served his country proudly as a Medic in the United States Army in Germany from 1957 to 1959. He returned to Waterman following his tour of duty and resided there for the remainder of his life.  He was a great storyteller and loved to share his experiences of life on the farm and his time in Germany.  He was a lifelong farmer on land that has been in the Hunt Family since 1903 and was a member of the DeKalb County Farm Bureau.  He left a legacy to future generations of small family-owned farmers by preserving a way of life in DeKalb County that is quickly being lost.  He was a member of the Waterman Presbyterian Church for over 80 years and served as usher greeting family and friends every Sunday that he was able throughout his life.

 

Floyd was united in marriage on December 27, 1974 to Julie Faser Ehrhart of Naperville.  They spent 33 happy years together until her passing on December 25, 2007.  He is survived by his stepchildren, Andy (Linda) Ehrhart of Waterman, Jenni (Bob) Myers of Hinckley, Nick (Rebecca) Ehrhart of Hinckley, Cindee (Jeff) Eychaner of Anchorage, Alaska, his five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ronald Hunt and Thomas “Dick” Hunt, his sisters Dorothy Salerno, Rosalind Parrick and his niece, Colleen Narr.

 

Friends may visit from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at the Nash-Nelson Funeral Home, 1001 E. Garfield Street, Waterman, Illinois.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the Waterman Presbyterian Church, 250 N. Cedar Street, Waterman, Illinois followed by interment at Johnson Grove Cemetery on Shabbona Grove Road, Waterman, Illinois.  The family invites everyone to return to the Waterman Presbyterian Church following the burial for a light luncheon and fellowship.
