Ernestine A. Halvorson

Ernestine A. Halvorson, age 91, of Yorkville, IL, formerly of Janesville, WI and Northbrook, IL passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, IL. She was born on April 26, 1930 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Anton and Mary (Zahn) Altmayer.

Ernestine was united in marriage on April 4, 1953 to John F. Halvorson and they spent the next 59 years happily together until his passing on August 4, 2012. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Paul (Martha) Halvorson of Charleston, SC; her son-in-law, John Hellwig; her 6 grandchildren; and her 2 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Mary Altmayer; her husband, John F. Halvorson; her daughter, Kathryn Hellwig on November 3, 2021; and her brother, Anthony (Tony) Altmayer on December 8, 1992.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 406 Walnut St., Yorkville, IL with Father Matthew Lamoureux M.I.C. officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
