Ernest Cattani

Ernest L. Cattani, age 87, a lifetime resident of Tuscarawas, Ohio passed away Sunday morning, September 19, 2021 in Park Village Skilled Nursing Care at Dover following a period of declining health.

Born in Uhrichsville, on January 14, 1934, Ernest was the son of the late Pete E. and Frances (Endrizzi) Cattani. He was a graduate of the former Tuscarawas Warwick High School. After High School he served in the US Army for 4 years as a Medical Corpsman. He then began his career and retired from Superior Clay.

In his free time Ernest was a past member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 740 in Uhrichsville and an avid Cleveland Indians, Ohio State and Cleveland Browns fan. He was also a member of the Tuscarawas County Senior Center and a devoted member of St. James Lutheran Church and its Men’s Group.

Ernest is survived by a sister, Irene Walker, of Columbus and 9 nieces and nephews along with numerous great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Cattani, and four sisters, Alice Cattani, Anna Poletti, Clara Schwendiman, Sylvia Curran and a nephew Jerry Walker.

The family will greet guests on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:00pm in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia where Rev. A. Wallace Anderson will lead a 2:00pm service celebrating Ernest’s life. Burial will follow in the St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery at Tuscarawas where the New Philadelphia VFW Post 1445 will provide military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ernest’s name to St. James Lutheran Church, PO Box 336 Tuscarawas, OH 44682. The family would like to thank the staff of both Community Hospice and Park Village for the excellent care and kindness that they provided to Ernest.
