Elvira Jannie passed away peacefully on Sept. 17, 2022, at her home in Chandler, Ariz., after a short illness. She was 99 years old and had lived in Arizona for 35 years. Prior to Arizona, Elvira lived in Marion, Iowa, for many years.

Elvira was born on Jan. 26, 1923, in Serena, Italy, in the province of Bergamo, to Giovanni Zanotti and Bernadina Pasinetti Zanotti. Elvira came to the United

States in 1949 and relocated

to Marion, Iowa. One of Elvira’s proudest accomplishments was becoming an America Citizen in 1955. Elvira loved America and was a strong patriot contributing to many military organizations. Elvira worked at Mac’s Tavern for many years, Hy-Vee and Collins Radio. Elvira enjoyed spending time with family, photography, reading history, riding her bike and walking.

Survivors to honor her memory are her children: daughter, Joanne Wabeke of Chandler, Ariz.; son, Louis Jannie and Vallerie of Marion, Iowa; and son, Billylee Jannie and Robyn of Ryan, Iowa; grandchildren, Chad Sivertsen and Cynthia of Peoria, Ariz., Bryce Jannie and Ann of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Karry Smith and Jolene of Waukee, Iowa, and Maddie Williams of Hot Springs, Ark.; and great-grandchildren, Marissa and Kaitlyn Sivertsen of Peoria, Ariz., and Amelia and Harper Smith of Waukee, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Sergio Zanotti, Italo Zanotti and Slyvano Zanotti; and two sisters, Ines Villa and Bruna Bodrata.

A private celebration of Elvira’s life will be held in Arizona. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Vietnam Veterans of America.
