Eileen Rose Stockman, 97, passed away Monday, Jan. 16, 2023.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Cosgrove. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter Catholic Church. The rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Eileen Stockman Memorial Fund.

Eileen was born April 25, 1925, in rural Johnson County, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Butz) Goss. On June 12, 1946, Eileen married Donald J. Stockman.

Eileen received her teaching certificate at Iowa State Teachers College (Cedar Falls) and later received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa. She taught second grade in the Cosgrove and Clear Creek Elementary Schools for many years.

Eileen was a member of St. Peter Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed playing bridge and euchre with the “all day card club” and family, as well as being a “cruciverbalist” (a love of doing crossword puzzles). Most important to Eileen was her family and friends.

Eileen is survived by her four children, Shirley Stockman and Sharon Stockman, both of Oxford, Sharleen (Dave) Bertling of Cedar Rapids and Dean (Amy) Stockman of Iowa City; eight grandchildren, Donnie (Kali), Terry, David, Carrie (PJ), Jennifer (Troy), Conor (Brooke), Tyler (Allison) and Will (Alyssa); 14 great grandchildren, Trever, Traeten, Tucker, Jack, Oscar, Kayla, Cole, Ruby, Nora, Ada, Hadley, Theo, Cole and Otto; numerous nieces and nephews.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1998; and two brothers, Robert and Earl Goss.
